An Indigo aircraft collided with a SpiceJet ladder at Mumbai airport on Saturday due to strong winds, causing damage to the wings and engine of the aircraft. The cyclonic storm that hit the Konkan region of Maharashtra on Wednesday has affected coastal Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Mumbai, Thane as well as Pune and Nashik districts. Raigad district deputy collector Dr Padmashri Bainde, who was directly targeted by the storm, said that more than one lakh trees have fallen in the district, and lakhs of houses have been damaged. Electricity and communication facilities have also been affected by falling electric poles and mobile towers. About 5000 hectares of agriculture was damaged. Trees fell at around 80 places in Mumbai and Mumbai suburbs and two houses collapsed in the neighboring district of Thane, although the impact of the storm was less but the raw houses could not withstand the storm. In districts like Palghar, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Pune, agriculture suffered more.
